Position Summary
The Head of IT operations will lead the company’s internal IT function across a Microsoft-centered environment. This is a hands-on active leadership role for someone who can set direction, make sound technical decisions, and jump directly into support, administration, troubleshooting, and implementation work.
This role is responsible for keeping the organization running day-to-day while also building the systems, policies, and processes that enable Alerion’s IT operations to scale.
The Alerion environment is heavily centered on Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoint support, secure BYOD, and SaaS-based business systems across four distinct Microsoft tenants. Most systems are cloud-based, with limited self-hosted infrastructure with one externally-supported system requiring Azure-hosted Windows server infrastructure, storage, backups, and ongoing server administration support.
This is an internal-facing role supporting team members across the US, working across Alerion’s portfolio of companies. This role will work within a small but nimble corporate operational division and must be comfortable with flexible assignments and providing hands-on support.
Required education and experience
- Progressive mid- to senior-level Microsoft-heavy IT experience.
- PowerShell experience for Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Azure, or endpoint administration.
- Familiarity with Azure Bicep or other infrastructure-as-code approaches for Azure VM provisioning and configuration.
Preferred education, certifications and/or experience
- Master’s degree in information security, information technology, computer science, or related field.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Azure Fundamentals Certification, CISSP, CISM, or CISA preferred.
- Experience supporting healthcare, health plan, consulting, compliance, or regulated business environments.
- Background in IAM, cloud security, endpoint security, data protection, network security, and application security.
- Experience administering Venn (venn.com).
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, or related risk and control programs (Strong preference for ISO 27001 certification).
- Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting SAS server environments or other specialized business applications hosted on Windows servers.
